Kids in the Woods

In this programme, which has been running for six years, companies that have no land of their own or have insufficient time can sponsor microforests planted at selected schools.

Sowing the future, one school at a time

We believe that every child deserves to grow up surrounded by nature.

That is the reason why we launched the Kids in the Woods programme six years ago. It aims to reconnect young people with their environment by giving them the chance to explore and learn and develop by contributing directly to the creation of a microforest at their school.

The microforests we create are not just green spaces. They are living laboratories where pupils can observe biodiversity, understand the importance of ecosystems, and develop a deep respect for nature. By making these small green havens part of daily life in the schools, we’re giving children the tools they need to become tomorrow’s guardians of the planet.

Kids in the Woods is based on partnerships with companies that want to support ecological and educational initiatives. We can identify those schools that are well placed to embark on this adventure.

Urban Forests selects the partner schools and handles the various planting steps as well as the coordination with the school.

The benefits of the programme

  • Ease of participation
  • A local activity, within the company's territory
  • Commitment to a civic and educational project that enhances schools, while imparting positive values for society
  • A clear presentation of the project, including communication elements that make it easy to share
  • Reporting every six months for updates on the project’s progress
# 01

Direct action

Creating microforests is a tangible solution to today’s ecological challenges. It is a direct action that positively impact one’s school and the environment in multiple ways.

# 02

Raising awareness

The program helps school children learn and connect with the natural world and to understand the issues at stake. Students become aware of their own role in preserving nature.

# 03

Educational support

Nature at school provide a fantastic source of inspiration and discovery for students. Microforests provide unique opportunities for learning, for observation, and for exploration.

# 04

Community

The creation of a microforest mobilises students, teachers, parents and members of the local community, strengthening the bonds within and outside the school.

# 05

School environment

Microforests create a stimulating and inspiring environment that promotes emotional and mental well-being. Children see the forest ecosystem grow with them.
